We were at Kai Tak Airport in 1994 and 1998, filming airside and from their excellent spectator facilities. We made two very popular videos, that were subsequently combined into a double DVD set. Each video is now being re-released to stream, after being upgraded to wide screen high definition, using the latest Artificial Intelligence software.

The still shots displayed are from both the 1994 and 1998 videos.

Hong Kong 98 – Last Look at Kai Tak

Filmed in June 98, only weeks before the airport closed, this spectacular video captured the latest aircraft that used Kai Tak, with A330s, A340s, 777s and MD90s featured along with a strong cast of 747s -over 30 of them!

With superb airside locations and shots of the airport from a helicopter, you get to see that unique curved approach from five different viewpoints.

That’s not all! We take you onto the flightdeck of a Virgin Atlantic A340, at 21,000ft – just as it begins its descent down to that famous curved approach, past the Chequerboard, to Runway 13.

Hong Kong 94

Its Tristar time at Kai Tak in this 1994 video, with aircraft from both Cathay and Dragonair. Most of Cathay’s aircraft are in their old colours, as are those of China Airlines and Air Hong Kong.

Filmed from three classic locations around the airport, in some excellent weather, this captured the essence of this amazing airport – now gone forever!
